Case study: Data Ethics and Privacy

Seminar:

This week we will be delving into the data privacy and privacy risk, a closely related topic to data ethics. We will also be learning about common methods to de-identify data to protect people’s privacy.

Tutorial:

In the tutorial, you’ll be playing with some practice data sets to help you practice how to de-identify data. You’ll need to download the data for the tutorial from Moodle.

Workshop:

We’ll look at a data set together and discuss how we might best preserve the utility of the data, while also ensuring data privacy.

Assessment:

• We are marking your assignment 2s. We’ll have those back to you before the next assignment is due.

• Assignment 3 is out.
